Ancient Wisdom and Techno-Tribal are phrases that Michelle uses to describe her work. Michelle is inspired by jewelry created through the ages and is fascinated by the work that was done without the use of modern technology.
Most of Michelle’s jewelry creations are fabricated using traditional techniques and the use of modern technology and tools. She takes flat, raw materials, such as sheet and wire made of sterling silver, gold and copper and then saws, bends and solders them together to create her designs. She loves to use surprising materials such as Door County Beach stones captured in fabricated “boxes”, or reclaimed piano key ivory. Precious and Semi-precious gemstones also play an important role in her jewelry. Gemstones, both faceted and cabochons of jasper, tourmaline, labradorite and turquoise are favorites. Many times when Michelle sees a stone, she already has an idea of what she will create with it.
Michelle has been creating jewelry for more than 30 years. Throughout this time, Michelle has shown her works in art shows and galleries, including Amman, Jordan, Door County, Green Bay, Milwaukee, Illinois and Michigan. Her clients live throughout the United States, six other countries and are worn by royalty.
Myska Design Jewelry. Myska is the polish word for mouse, Michelle’s childhood nickname. Everything Michelle creates is made with love and a little magic!
